Saturday Life Update

Good morning and happy Saturday!

I did something this morning that 22-year old Lise would have considered absolutely unthinkable but 32-year old Lise loved.

I woke up around 6:30am (which has remained my wakeup time even during my summer vacation) to a cat curled up at my head and the thought that I had one thing that I absolutely had to get done today and that was to go to the farmers market.

I knew I wanted to get this done as early as possible since it’s a Saturday in the summer and the city is kind of a nightmare these days. So many tourists, so many events, so much traffic and so much construction. Having gone into the city yesterday (and realizing why I tried to avoid it as much as possible), I knew that the earlier I went in today, the better.

Knowing that the market opened at 7am, I jumped out of bed, threw on some clothes and a ball cap and headed out the door. I was back home at 8am. Now, 22-year old me would have probably just gone to bed a few hours ago and the thought of having to move very far would be unthinkable. But 32- year old me is all about those early mornings and getting things done ASAP.

AND, a few days ago I put it out into the Universe that I wanted to find some larger plants for the apartment so, of course, the Universe responded. I found quite a large money tree that I will transplant into a larger pot and let it grow! And, of course, it had a heart-shaped leaf on it because I’m always seeing hearts absolutely everywhere.

And now I’ve opened up my day to shape it exactly the way I want. A little bit of work, a little bit of reading, some time spent with the fur babies…

Before I go, I want to leave you with a few of the things that I’m currently loving (because maybe you’re loving them too!)

  1. The Witches of New York by Ami McKay: I went into Chapters yesterday lookingFullSizeRender.jpg-1.jpeg for something completely different but, when I saw this book on the shelf, I knew I had to get it. Having loved both The Birth House and The Virgin Cure, I was very excited about the topic of this novel. I only just started reading it but I’m already loving it. Fun fact: Ami McKay lives, like, an hour away from me! Maybe someday I’ll get to meet her and tell her how much I appreciate her talent as a writer in person.
  2. Goat Milk Bath: I’m always looking for new things to add to my baths and this is FullSizeRender.jpg-2.jpegmy newest fave. It leaves my skin feeling incredible and how can you go wrong with anything lavender scented?
  3. Holy Basil (or Tulsi): Holy Basil has been around for awhile. It has a rich history dating back to ancient eastern uses 3,000 years ago and is highly regarded in Ayurvedic medicine. I found some Tulsi Tea at a health food shop back home last week and I also picked up a Holy Basil tincture yesterday. It’s used to treat stress & anxiety, adrenal fatigue and blood sugar issues!
  4. Everything having to do with the Fall: Call my crazy, but I’m already fantasizing about fall outfits (the sweaters, the scarves, the BOOTS!!), fall recipes and just the general FEELING that the changing of the season brings. Don’t get me wrong; I love the summer. I love the heat and the freedom of vacation and everything that summer represents… but it’s nothing compared to how I feel about the fall. I’ve been spending quite some time revamping my Fall Pinterest Board in anticipation.

And that’s it for me today! I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday and that you get to spend it doing things you love! xoLise
